Safety Manager (4/15/09)
Our recruiting company is searching for our client located in Iowa. The position is Safety Manager.
Continue to build a behavior safety culture focused at driving injuries to zero at the 850 employee facility. Supervise four people. Develop and administer policies and procedures, and provide expertise resulting in compliance to all OSHA regulations and other legal requirements. Manage security and loss prevention at the plant.
Knowledge and Abilities: College degree in occupational safety or equivalent. Extensive knowledge of state and federal regs and other legal requirements (including PSM) in the area of safety, security and loss prevention. Ability to advise, consult and coach plant leaders and employees. Understanding of adult learning principles with ability to conduct effective safety training. Strong communication skills and organizational saavy to lead change. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to employees at all levels of the organization and to act as a resource to the plant. Ability to use computer (Microsoft Office and other major computer applications) effectively.
Experience: 10+ years of experience in industrial safety with strong background in industrial behavior safety process.
Requirements: Hands-on approach and strong detail focus. Excellent leadership capabilities. Positive, proactive approach to driving change. Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills. Ability to perform effective case management following work-related injuries. Must be able to get around in a large plant. Must be able to climb stairs, lift and move 50 pounds, and walk throughout the plant, in conditions of extreme temperatures.
